Lake Mountains

Lake Mountains

I took the opportunity to visit the top of Lake Mountains. I’ve had the desire to go up there for a few weeks, and I had some free time this evening. IT WAS GREAT!

The drive up the canyon that gets to the top of Lake Mountains is pretty steep. It’s a gravel/dirt road that has been cut out of the side of the canyon. Lots of fun to drive up. According to peakbagger.com this is the 49th highest peak in Utah. Impressive, I know.

At the top of the mountain there are a few cell towers and what not. There’s also a FAA Loran station. I had no idea what that was, and it looked old, so I didn’t go there and take a picture. Plus, there were tons of FAA warning signs saying that if you trespass then you’ll be prosecuted. Maybe next time. I doubt the thing is still in service, but still pretty cool.

The view from the top of the mountain is gorgeous. You can see most of Utah Lake and the rest of the Utah Valley. It was lots of fun and I think I got some great shots.
